I was a bit… away lately, mostly because of neck/head pain, the typical brain killer. So if I can’t write and barely stitch… no posts, obviously.
One of the good things about my new home is the fire place. Of course, it’s a fake fire, and the central gas heating system is in there (British thing?) but it means I have a mantel to decorate. And I decided to put seasonal decorations on it. And decorative cushions are an obvious choice…
You can see I turned Scream girls and Joan Elliott’s witch into cushions as well (click to see full size), and add the little Mill Hill witches. I still have a Mill Hill Halloween project in the making. I plan on stitching that when DBF comes on Saturday, as he doesn’t understand why I stitch snowy Christmas scenes already !
Yesterday I received my copy of Zelda, the phantom hourglass, and spent most of the evening playing on my DS console. I have to say I’m a big fan on this game, the fact that you play entirely with the stylus is a great idea ! The next game I’m waiting for is the Simpsons, the game. BTW Lauren, did I reply about the Katamari games? I tried a PS2 demo once, but like Loco Roco, the fun and interest was short lived… Plus I wasn’t good at it ;)
Here is a proof I have no head. I read comments asking me who designed the pumpkins of the week end, and thought “can’t people read?” (grumpy grandma, the return…). But obviously it is I who can’t write, because I forgot to say it’s from Little House Needleworks, even though I would have bet my life on the fact that I had written it in the post. I did write it in the gallery picture though. A little tip for later. For technical questions about what I stitch, designers, magazines it’s from, colours changes…. go and look for the project in the gallery.
To add to the “no head” case… Lili, you are right, I have DMC 4045… and it’s the one I use for the green of Forest Snowfall. Problem is… when I sorted my variegated threads, I was using it already heavily, and forgot to write the number on the bobbin. Doh !
So when I decided on the threads to use on the pumpkins, I thought it would be an obvious choice, but I was afraid to run out of thread. And as it was not labelled, I thought it was one of the variegated Anchor threads I bought in Menin, and so didn’t dare compromising Forest Snowfall for the pumpkins.
Yes, and all that hard thinking was done before 8am on Saturday morning….
Samantha, Nic, I never used or even tasted butternut squash. Somehow it looks like an alien vegetable or something… And I don’t mind making a lot of soup at once, because I freeze most of it, so I have a stock for the rest of the year…
jennR, I tried a few variegated, and I think DMC is the best, maybe Anchor along with it, because they are colourfast, and the threads don’t seem fragilised by the overdying operation. Most overdyed threads don’t glide in the fabric well.
June, the fabric for the pumpkins cushion is apples indeed, along with radishes for some reason…
So now I still feel I need to stitch a little Haloween project, but I don’t know what… I’m waiting for my order from ABC stitch, I had Fall patterns in it…
